WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE? ED is a type of free-form dancing inviting people to connect to themselves and to others through music and movement. It takes places over a 2-hour live DJ set and starts and finishes with a short opening and closing circle led by a Ceremony Leader. There are no teacher or rules, but we ask you to follow a few guidelines: 1. No talking during the wave. ED is a silent practice -you are welcome to communicate with others with your body language, but please keep words outside the space. 2. No shoes. Barefoot dancing helps us ground ourselves by creating more of a direct contact between our feet and the earth (even when indoors!) 3. No drugs/alcohol. ED is a conscious practice embracing mindfulness. 4. Phone-free zone. Please keep your phones off/airplane mode & off of the dance floor 5. Respect of self and other. We ask participants to take responsibility for themselves, but also to watch out for others and be mindful of their personal space and of the space at House of Transformation, including the beautiful plantlife all around us. Q&A -What are your social distancing and virus prevention measures? We keep a large bottle of hand sanitiser at your disposal. We request all dancers to respect the 1m social distancing rule and not to gather in groups of more than 6. All touch hotspots will be sanitised. Fresh air to venue through huge windows. Please do not come if you or any of your co-habitants have any symptoms. We will take details and keep on file all dancers for 21 days, in case of any future C19 cases so we can allow for track and trace should need arise. -What to bring? A large water bottle (preferably reusable, we've put enough plastic on this planet) and a blanket to lie/sit on. Also a notebook or journal can be great for post dance musings and thought captures, anything to keep us off our phones as long as poss! -What to wear? Wear whatever you feel best in! We have no dress code, but suggest comfortable clothing, either loose or stretchy, like you may wear for any other exercise / yoga session. We encourage dressing or even accessorising to make you FEEL GOOD too (just bear in mind that you are probably going to move and 'shake it like a polaroid picture!')! -What kind of music? ED music is eclectic and not linked to any specific genre. We start with ambient, chillout tunes then bring you on an ecstatic journey with electronica, EDM, world music and ethnic beats before bringing you back down with downtempo tracks and finish with a gentle sound bath. -Are children allowed? We love kids and all are welcome, so get in touch, but we would suggest that over 12's would be more suited to these small, intimate events. -What is your refund policy? We don't offer any refunds, but we can transfer your ticket to a future date if you notify us up to 72 hours before the event. After this please pass your ticket on and make sure we have their name and contact details. -What happens at the House of Transformation?
