Everything people ask before booking House of Transformation. If your question isn't here, send it over — we answer quickly.
- How many people does House of Transformation hold?
- Up to 30 people seated for a workshop or dining, and 40–50 standing for networking and social events. For a screening or a talk with rows of chairs and floor cushions, around 40.
- Where exactly is the venue?
- Unit 4, 222 Kingsland Road, London E2 8AX. It is a five-minute walk from both Hoxton and Haggerston Overground stations, with a bus stop on the doorstep. Enter through the 222 door — not 218–220 — and the space is at the end of the ground-floor corridor.
- Is it exclusive hire, or shared?
- Exclusive. When you book, the space is yours for the duration — no other event running alongside. The courtyard outside is communal with the rest of the building.
- What is included in the hire?
- Four oak tables with adjustable-height legs, thirty chairs, floor cushions and blankets, a 5.2k projector with a wide remote-controlled screen, Bluetooth speakers, over twenty app-controlled lights, 60MB WiFi, a kitchen with gas hobs and a serving island, crockery for up to 24, and tea and coffee.
- Can we bring our own caterer, or cook ourselves?
- Yes to both. There is no in-house catering and no approved-supplier list to work around. The kitchen has gas hobs, an oven, a dishwasher and a 1.6m serving island that works as a demonstration counter.
- What audio-visual equipment is there?
- A 5.2k projector with HDMI and USB connections and a wide remote-controlled screen on the stage. You can screen-share from a laptop over Chrome Cast or plug in by HDMI. Sound runs through the projector, the Bluetooth JBL speaker or the Gale floorstanding speakers.
- Can we play music, and until when?
- Yes, at moderate volume with the windows closed. The building is residential, so we ask for no loud bass at any time and no loud music after 11pm. Quiet background music is fine later than that.
- Is the space suitable for a film or photo shoot?
- Yes — it is regularly used for both. The main room is double-height with a run of warehouse windows, blackout curtains when you need to kill the daylight, a mezzanine for high angles, and ground-floor load-in from the street.
- Is there wheelchair access?
- The main space is on the ground floor with no steps from the street, and the bathroom is on that level. The mezzanine and upper levels are reached by stairs only. Tell us what you need when you enquire and we will talk it through honestly.
- How do we book, and how much does it cost?
- Send an enquiry through the booking form with your dates and roughly what you are planning, and we will come back with availability and a price. Rates depend on the day, the hours and what you need from us, so we quote rather than publish a rate card.
- What happens if we run over our booking time?
- There is a fifteen-minute grace period at the end of a booking. Beyond that we charge for the additional time, because there may be another booking behind yours.
- Do you have another venue outside London?
- Yes. Selgars Mill is a converted 19th-century mill house with cottages, set in eight acres in the Culm Valley in mid-Devon, about two hours from London Paddington. It is used for team retreats, weddings and coliving.
